De grandes figures de l‘Hérésie à travers l’histoire, tels que Le Caravage, William Burroughs, Jose Mujica, le Marquis de Sade ou Johnny Rotten, sont la première source d’inspiration de ce projet, abordant cette question sous forme de portraits mêlant texte et musique. Un travail collaboratif où écriture, voix, guitares, électronique sont travaillés pour une exploration hors norme d’une thématique qui leur ressemble. Les visions singulières des artistes se superposent sur fond de guitares parfois mélodiques, le plus souvent bruissantes, et de textes récites. La voix et les mots contrastes de Chaton font écho aux accords électrisants de Moor.

Anne-James Chaton et Andy Moor forment un duo de longue date, ils explorent les influences musicales et littéraires de chacun en nouant une relation inédite entre guitare et poésie. La création d’Heretics est le fruit d’une résidence au Théâre scène nationale de St-Nazaire, en Juillet 2014 avec le guitariste américain Thurston Moore. Anne-James et Andy explorent désormais ces partitions en duo et réinventent HERETICS, conservant la voix de Thurston, revisitant chacun des morceaux, en créant de nouveaux.
